At the hub of all that we do at Herring House
The hostel offers emergency accommodation for people in housing crisis and in need of immediate help. We offer housing and support in our hostel, which has 31 ensuite bedrooms and 24-hour support.
About the hostel
We aim to provide safe and secure accommodation and a programme of support to help individuals move out of homelessness into longer term, secure accommodation that best suits their needs. The Hostel accommodates 31 people, aged 18 years upwards. The maximum length of stay depends on the individual, but support is offered up to two years.
Each resident is assigned a keyworker, and together they develop a support plan to help the individual address their housing and support needs. Residents meet with their keyworker on a regular basis to ensure support remains relevant and appropriate. Referral into more specialist services, such as drug or alcohol treatment services, can be made where necessary.
The aim of the project is to support residents to engage in the support services they require, to enable them to address the issues that have led to their current circumstances. Their keyworker will help them address issues such as benefits, life skills, housing need, physical and mental health and move-on options. Ultimately the project aims to enable residents to achieve independence and manage their own tenancies.
